Recognition is a means of acknowledging the skills and experience you have gained from formal and informal training, employment either through paid or voluntary work experience, and life experiences in Australia or from overseas. If you believe that you have relevant and current skills in one or more units of competency (units), you may complete the qualification faster.
Students enrolled with TAFE NSW are entitled to apply for recognition, by demonstrating that they have achieved relevant and current skills against the qualification they are studying, so learning is not repeated. There is no limit to the amount of recognition that may be granted in a TAFE NSW qualification.
Recognition for a full qualification may assist you to gain entry into higher qualifications.
